WARNING WARNING WARNING
This album contains images of a Great Blue Heron capturing and eating a squirrel. Many of the images show a squirrel in a uncomfortable position and some show some amount of blood, so if you are sensitive you may want to avoid viewing the images in this album and instead only view the images in the safe album here which contains some images of the same Great Blue Heron that are not so gruesome.

I was in Malibu to watch a college volleyball tournament which didn't finish until 11 pm, so I got back to Malibu Creek State Park after the gates were locked. I was expecting this, so I parked in the small parking lot outside the gate and walked to my campsite. As a result, the next morning I had to walk to the parking lot to retrieve my truck. During the walk I noticed a Great Blue Heron walking in a grassy field. Since my photography gear was in the truck, I immediately decided I would try to take some pictures on the way back. By the time I returned, the Heron was on the other side of the field, so I carefully walked around the edge of the field hoping not to scare it. Fortunately I got there at a perfect time, and the images in this album are the result. This first morning photo opportunity was the most interesting one I encountered the entire weekend.
